Paris, the city of romance, art and exquisite cuisine – a dream destination for many. If you find yourself with just 24 hours to explore this magnificent city, here’s an itinerary to make the most of your time and experience some of its most iconic landmarks and hidden gems.

Day One Evening
20:30: Board the Eurostar at London Kings Cross St Pancras
22:20: Arrive at Paris Gare du Nord
Your adventure begins as you step off the train at Gare du Nord. Feel the excitement build as you prepare to immerse yourself in the magic of Paris.
22:50: Arrive at Hotel
Check into your hotel by 22:50. Whether you’re staying in a cute boutique hotel or a luxurious five-star hotel, take a moment to relax and freshen up.
23:30: Eiffel Tower Sparkle and Late-Night Snack
Head out to see the Eiffel Tower’s nightly sparkle. This iconic light show occurs every hour on the hour for five minutes (8PM-1AM). Enjoy the breathtaking view and perhaps grab a quick bite from a nearby food vendor or café – I went to the Emily Café and had my mini Emily in Paris moment.

01:00: Back to Hotel
Return to your hotel to rest up for the busy day ahead.
Day Two – full day
09:00: Breakfast
Start your day with a traditional Parisian breakfast. Consider stopping by Mamiche, a popular bakery known for its tasty pastries and fresh coffee.
10:00: Notre Dame
Begin your sightseeing with a visit to the stunning Notre Dame Cathedral. It’s Gothic architecture is truly beautiful and a very historical landmark. Unfortunately, when I visited it was under renovation but still a beautiful sight and a nice walk if you’re staying on the left bank side of the river.
10:30: Louvre Museum
Next, head to the Louvre. Focus on the Richelieu Wing, Napoleon’s Apartments, and the Denon Wing where you can admire the Mona Lisa. Pre-purchase tickets and use the subterranean entrance to avoid long lines. Please note the museum is closed on a Tuesday, which we found out on the day – but you can still take photos outside and walk around the grounds.
12:00: Lunch/Snack
Grab a quick lunch or snack. Carette is famous for its hot chocolate and pastries – a perfect midday treat.
13:00: Jardin des Tuileries
Take a leisurely stroll through the Jardin des Tuileries, enjoying the beautiful gardens and sculptures.
13:30: BNF Richelieu Library (Optional)
If time allows, visit the BNF Richelieu Library, a hidden gem for book and history lovers. Also a perfect photo opportunity.
14:00: Montmartre Area (Optional)
Explore the charming Montmartre area. Walk around its winding streets, visit the Sacré-Cœur Basilica and snap a souvenir photo at the famous photo booth.
16:00: Arc de Triomphe and Champs-Élysées
Purchase tickets at the base of the Arc de Triomphe to access the top. Enjoy a panoramic view of Paris, including the Eiffel Tower. Afterwards stroll down the Champs-Élysées, one of the world’s most famous avenues where you ca. enjoy some luxury shopping.
18:00: Dinner
For dinner, consider Le Relais de Venise, renowned for its steak and fries with a secret sauce. Be prepared for a potentially long wait, but the meal is really worth it. Alternatively, Gigi is also a top pick and offers a fabulous dining experience.
19:30: Head to Train Station
Make your way back to the train station in time for your departure.
20:12: Return Train
Board your train back to London, bringing with you memories of a unforgettable 24 hours in Paris.
